If you've been shooting the popular BMPCC4K you know that that BRAW is a great codec. It is very light on the computer on one hand, and preserve a lot of information on the other hand. It was natively supported in DaVinci Resolve, but you had to to get a $25 third-party plugin to run it in Premiere.
Today Black Magic released an official FREE plugin that supports both Premiere and Avid. You can download the plugin here.
But there is more, this BRAW1.5 update also adds support to Linux and Mac and includes the Blackmagic RAW Speed Test application. Here is the excerpt from Black Magic:
- Note 3: When you install Adobe Bridge CS3 as part of Photoshop Elements 6 on Mac OS, Adobe Bridge supports Camera Raw through version 5.5. For more information, see Use Camera Raw 5.x with Photoshop Elements 6 when you also have Photoshop CS3 installed (Mac OS).
- Camera Raw for Photoshop Elements. Follow the same steps as with Photoshop above. Here are the updates to the Adobe Camera Raw plugins for Photoshop Elements MAC & Windows up to v.10. This will make it much easier to open your RAW files as you shouldn't have to go through the DNG conversion process if you are using Version 9 or later.
Bridge CS4 has no Camera Raw Hi Again, Mac OS X 10.5.6 MBP PSCS4 Camera Raw Preferences are grayed out in Bridge CS4 and neither NEF nor DNG images can be viewed in the browser, just the icon for a NEG or DNG file. I have to open a file in Photoshop CS4 Camera Raw to see the ima.
